OK…

…I think that the question of the century Would you still visit this blog if it had just one post a month? has been haunting you long enough Winking.

Many thanks for taking the time participating to he poll. To be honest, I thought I would have gathered less than 0 responses. All in all, the results surprised me.

The poll results, as of today, show that for an overwhelming 88% of you a post a month would be ok, while for the remaining 12% it would not.

Thanks to that 88% I’ve decided I’ll keep this blog alive. I’ll try to do my best to post at least one article a month - but who knows, maybe inspiration will hit and there will be more - hopefully.

I also wanted to say how much I’d like to write more in-depth articles on photo techniques and my own way of editing my photos but find it a bit hard and time-consuming due to the fact that English is not my primary language. Again, never say never: I may venture in something more on the tech side, after all (be prepared to some unintentional humor then!).

Enough for now. I must go and mull over my next post Smug

It’s been a month…

…since my last post. I know this is no good. My bunch of readers must have migrated somewhere else (reasonably). I’m beginning to ask myself if it’s worth keeping this blog alive when it seems I haven’t enough time to update it. I really admire you guys out there who can keep up with blog posts and life - really do.

So I thought I’d set up a little poll and see what you think - supposing you are still among the few who visit here.

On the the poll: Would you still visit this blog if it had just one post a month?

Thank you!

For carrying around my gear I use a Lowepro SlingShot 100AW which I find very easy to use and sturdy. I can fit inside it my Nikon d70 with the standard 18-70 zoom lens, the Sigma 50mm macro, battery charger, a couple filters, hoods, the sb600 flash, and spare batteries. In the future, as my gear will probably expand, I will need a real backpack.

PopPhoto Magazine in this article lists five nice and low-priced backpacks you may find interesting.

Be careful what you do

Uh-oh! It seems that when participating to certain photo contests you should be very careful and go through the fineprints in their Terms of Use and Contest Rules. If you don’t you run the risk of giving away your rights. Read the full post at Jim Goldstein’s blog and you’ll see this is true not only for photo contests but also for social media like Facebook…

Protect your digital photos

I always back up my photos. I use two external hard disks for that and I also back them up into DVDs. You may think they are enough. But in life who knows?

Swiss Picture Bank is an online service that promises to back up your photos for 30 years for 3 cents per picture. It seems that when opening an account the first 50 images are backed up for free.

In their own words:

We make multiple copies of every picture, encrypt them and secure them on redundant servers housed in data centers located throughout Switzerland. (…)We back our commitment to security with a payout promise: should we ever lose a picture, we will pay you 30x the value of the credits you spent to save that photo with us.

Sounds interesting? Go have a look. I may as well give it a try.
