Mario Giacomelli was born in Senigallia, Italy in 1925 and died in 2002. He was a self-taught photographer but before committing himself to photography he was a typesetter and a painter. His photography developed during post-war Italy, inspired by Neo Realist films of Vittorio De Sica and Roberto Rossellini .
